• Refrigerant Leak – Refrigerant is what makes the entire air conditioning system work. It moves through the hoses and picks up excess heat as a gas, it’s then turned into a liquid. When this happens, it sheds the heat to create cold air. If you don’t have enough refrigerant, our technicians can check for leaks. Then, they will refill your system with R134a, R1234yf, or even R12 (which is only allowed for vintage VW models made before 1994) refrigerant.
• Worn or Broken A/C Compressor – The compressor is the part of the A/C system that turns the refrigerant into a gas and pushes it through the hoses. The compressor can become worn out over time, or it may suffer physical damage. In either case, it will need to be replaced with a new OEM VW A/C compressor.
• A/C Condenser Problems – Whereas the compressor turns the refrigerant into a gas, the condenser turns it into a liquid. Over time, the condenser may become clogged, decreasing its functionality. In cases like these, we can usually unclog the condenser. However, a worn or damaged condenser will need to be replaced.
